Planning your engagement photos:
When planning your engagement portrait session, please consider warm tones or cool tones for your main clothing colors. There are warm, cool, and neutral tones. Warms colors include browns, blacks, rust tones, oranges, creams, yellows, greens, tans, and reds. Examples of cool tones are blues, grays, white, teal, burgundy and pinks. Some colors can go both ways. The neutral tones are good examples of this. Neutral tones include navy blue, black and white. Remember that dark clothing helps to minimize body size and light clothing tends to increase body size in photographs.
Planning your Bridal Portraits:
A successful bridal portrait is easy with a little planning. Be sure to have your dress pressed and ready for the day of the shoot. Hanging it up at least a week before your session should reduce most wrinkles. The veil and flowers are optional but many brides choose to have a small bouquet made just for bridal portraits. Have your stockings and shoes clean and ready as well. If you are having your hair done for the bridals, be sure to make your hair appointment well in advance of your portrait session, hairstyling usually takes longer than anticipated. Since Glen will be doing close-ups, have your nails done just the way that you want them. When you arrive at the studio, bring your dress and have your make-up applied. Your make-up should be applied about the same as you would for a formal dance. Be sure to bring a helper to help you get in and out of your dress. And don’t forget the jewelry!
If you choose to have your groom in the photos, make sure that he has everything that he needs, his clean and pressed tux, shoes and socks. A fresh shave is recommended, moustaches and beards should be neatly trimmed.
For the wedding day:
The same rules apply for wedding day coverage as it does for your bridal portrait session. They only other thing we can recommend is that you give PLENTY of time to prepare and for travel. It seems that tardiness is the worst enemy of a wedding party. Things to remember that are often forgotten: The bouquet, the veil, the recommends (if you are LDS), the jewelry, and the shoes. Remember: Plan prepare and practice! It’s your special day. Let’s have fun with it!
